 Hans Heysen’s (1877 – 1883) watercolour paintings of the Flinders Ranges and Hahndorf bush scenes are among the most iconic images of the Australian landscape. Heysen won the Wynne Prize nine times between 1900 and 1932 and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Art Gallery of South Australia. Major retrospectives of his work were held in 1977 and 2004 by the Art Gallery of South Australia. His work is held in all state galleries and many regional galleries.
