Albert Tucker (1914 – 1999) was a member of Melbourne’s influential Heide circle during the 1940s. Along with Sydney Nolan, his works contributed to the international ‘antipodean image’ of Australian painters. A major retrospective of Tucker's work was held by the NGV, later touring to state galleries and the NGA in 1989-90. His painting has been the subject of several monographs. Albert Tucker's work is held by the National Gallery of Australia and most state galleries.
