 Former chairman of the board of David Jones Limited, Sydney, and later trustee and vice-president of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sir Charles Lloyd Jones (1878 - 1958) was greatly involved in shaping the Australian art scene. Along with Sydney Ure Smith and Bertram Stevens, he helped establish the Art in Australia magazine, and used his success in business to position himself as a prominent art patron. Lloyd Jones studied at the Julian Ashton School in Sydney.
